Cathedral Window Quilt
The Cathedral Window quilt has long been adored. But because of its unusual construction, it trips people when they try to make it on their own. Come get the help needed to make this fun and beautiful block in a two-session class.
Class will be hand sewing, but this project can easily be converted partially or fully to machine.
Supply list
• Glasses and a battery-operated light, if you need them.
• Thread - color that blends into the background fabric
• Pencil, pen, or marker that will show up on the background fabric. Will be hidden, so it
doesn’t have to disappear.
• Ruler (can be your rotary cutting ruler)
• Scissors and thread snips
• Rotary cutter/mat/ruler are optional
• Straight pins
• Sharp needles - size/length you are comfortable with
• needle threader, if needed
• note-taking materials
• Background fabric: This can be white, solid, or read like a solid. Tiny prints work. DO
NOT STARCH. Amount: at least five 12.5” squares.
• Accent fabric: This can be anything that will stand out from the background. You can use
scraps, the same fabric throughout, whatever. There will also be some smaller rectangle
pieces, something that looks good with the main accents.
Amount: eight 3.75” squares,
1 5.5” square and four .75” by 3.75” rectangles. The squares can be one color and the
rectangles another. They can all be different.
Have the minimum fabrics ironed and cut. Do not starch.
